The Volos is a great seaside city of Thessaly. It is the ancient Iolkos, then began his Argonautic expedition the Iasonas with the legendary ship ARGO.
In 1200 B.C., in the end of the Copper Age and the begining of the Iron Age, 52 heroes of the Ancient Greece embarked on “Argo”, the biggest and most famous ship of the ancient times, and traveled from the port of Colhis (ancient Iolkos) to an eastern shore of the Euxine (Black) Sea, knomn nowadays as the city of Tosis (Former Russian Republic of Georgia). The purpose of the journey was to bring back to the King of Colhis, Pelias, and the Golden Fleece, which was guarded by a dragon. Acording to the ancient legend the owner of the Fleece gained immortality.
The journey hided extreme danger and surprise for the Argonautes, as they had to confront nature, hostile nations and as well as the range of some of the Gods.
In our days, everyone travels on a ship, our own Argo, chasing an utopia, a dream, crossing the Symplegades (Clashing Islands), the difficulties in life. Some may return to Colhis, as others may lost their way and experience only the joy of the effort. What counts is the journey, the struggle and the dream. We invite you to experience this journey together.
The revival of the ancient Greek myth is a fact, a detailed copy of Argo with 52 rowers will embark from the port of Volos (Ancient Iolkos), following the same route with the ancient Argo.
We will soon travel to Venice

A pointing out for the artists:
With big sadness I declare to you below. Unfortunately mail art in Greece fell victim exploitation of work of art. In 2006 became in [Elassona] the 1st international mail art report titled [Psychedelic, with organizer project mail artist Ioanna Papachristou and figurative organizer and commissary the painter Thomai Kontou. For this report, main sponsor and organizer we had the Municipality of Elassona. With the association Cultural consulate we collaborated only for the hospitality of their report in site and only for the report in Elassona. Unfortunately the persons of this association, not only exploited the report to their profit, retained our files, they retained the lists of report, that were paid by other sponsors, changed code the page of our report, (which henceforth vulgar they use also they accuse us), and unfortunately used these files misleading the foreigners same artists, organising supposedly mail art reports without they are artists, without they have never no relation with this artistic movement that is based mainly on the exchange of work between the authors. So that keeps for illegally, the work, and no one it does not know their chance. We declare to you that no relation and responsibility we do not have for the facts that they announce and for being particularly careful.
